I get a lot of questions about my house sitting jobs. People are really inspired and they are wondering if it’s possible for them to live the life of a traveling house sitter too. Of course it’s possible! And I want to help you in any way I can.

When you want to become a Pet- and House sitter, you will need a personal profile. That way the owners know who you are, and they can decide if you are the right person for the job. It’s a big decision they have to make... leaving their beloved pets at home with a complete stranger. It’s all a matter of trust, and an honest profile can give them the reassurance they need.
When registering with house sitting sites, your profile often is attached to your communication when you apply for a house sit. It also will appear in search results for owners looking for sitters. A personal profile is very important. I don’t say it’s easy to write a good profile. It can be done but it will take some time, so be patient! Five W's and the H What might be helpful are the principles of the Five W's and the H. They constitute a formula for getting the complete story on a subject: who, what, where, why, when, how. For example: Who are you (occupation, married, children, pets, hobbies, passions)?
What do you want to do (house sit and travel the world)?
When can you house sit (dates, period, flexibility)?
Where do you want to house sit (which part of the world, in cities or the countryside)?
Why do you want to house sit (the reason?) and why do they have to choose YOU?
How will you do the job (your skills like gardening or maintenance, relevant pet care experience, best qualities)?
Headline When reading articles in a magazine or a newspaper, the headlines and photos are very important. Same here! The profile heading is the first thing people will read. So try to think of a heading who can spark interest or curiosity! And ensure that you include photos of yourself, preferably a photo of you smiling, together with a pet. Making a short video is also a good idea! Include References too. A character, landlord, or employer reference is a good starting point. But you can also ask your neighbors, family and friends if they want to write you a reference. Think about the moments you took care of their pets while they were on vacation. Spell check A good profile is very important to introduce yourself. So always spell check and grammar check your writing before publishing! Do you need any help with writing, editing or translating?
